Rotary Youth Leadership International Award 2009
Established as a Rotary Structured programme in 1971, Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA)
is Rotary’s leadership training programme for young people. Rotary emphasizes leadership,
citizenship and personal growth through intensive training programs that often take the
shape of seminars, workshops, or in the case of Rotary District 1100, a six day, five night,
intensive leadership and personal development course. |
International RYLA was first launched in 2001, immediately preceding the Rotary International Convention
in San Antonio, Texas, USA. The event is designed to enable participants aged 18 – 30 to learn advanced leadership
techniques common to the RYLA programme through guest speakers, training sessions and group discussions,
as well as having the opportunity to collaborate and network with exceptional young people from around the world. |
The 2009 International RYLA - the seventh - will be held in Birmingham, England. It begins at midday on Thursday
18th June and concludes at breakfast on Sunday 231st June. Participants must attend the entire RYLA programme. |
Accommodation and board will be provided; participants will share a room with another participant of the same gender.
Participants are drawn from a diverse group of young people who have been involved in Rotary Youth Programs.
Nominees - who cannot be Rotarians - will have been recommended by their local Rotary Club for further consideration
